Finally some new ICAs.  Challenging Chef David Schneider channels his inner Ares as he enters Kitchen Stadium to battle Iron Chef Cat Cora in a showdown of Greek cuisine. Who’s cuisine will reign supreme?

Chef David Schneider of TaximChicago’s Taxim has certainly earned its share of accolades:

  • Best New Restaurants 2010: Best New Dish, Wood-Grilled Octopus Chicago Magazine
  • Best Bites of 2009 Chicago Reader
  • Named one of six great Greek restaurants, 2009’s best and biggest moments in dining, 100 best things we ate in 2009 Time Out Chicago

The praise belongs to chef/owner David Schneider who spent every summer of his childhood in Greece.  It was in those days spent in the old country that he first started to explore cooking.  And he did so under the best possible circumstances with the absolute best ingredients available.  Watching his family grow their own produce and catch their own fish taught him the importance of of having a relationship with your food.

But Schneider wasn’t always about food.  He did time at Northwestern University where he earned a degree in Engineering.  A degree he has never needed to use.  In designing Taxim he wanted it to be a tribute to all the culture of Greece from the menu to the music to the decor.  Those aforementioned accolades are a testament to his vision and execution.

Schneider brings his prowess into Kitchen Stadium where Iron Chef Cat Cora will be waiting with her own Greek Fire.  The judges for Battle Leg OF Lamb were Michael Psilakis, Karine Bakhoum and Josh Applestone.
